If someone approches you with a problem that exists in your behavior or character, they're just trying to help you. Usually. If their intent is good, which you must obviously spend a moment to discern, you should not become defensive.
Only if their intent is malicious, are you allowed to do something rediculous like point out one of their problems as if it completely undoes the existence of yours. Come on, isn't this common sense?
